The very first Scalextric cars
were fitted with loop braids. This is a strip of metal with a loop of
braid material soldered at each end. It is the bottom of the loop of
braid that touched the conductor rails of the Scalextric track.
Replacing the loop of braid can be very challenging as the old loop
has to be removed with a soldering iron, the new loop has to be formed
from a length of braid material and then this has to be soldered into
position.
A far better solution is to fit replacement loop braids already made up.
